Setup Shipping and Tax
When the product requires shipping you’re able to configure this using the Shipping and Tax section in your Edit Product screen. To configure shipping, first, click the “This product requires shipping” checkbox to activate it for the product. If applicable enter the weight (kg), length (cm), width (cm) and height (cm) for your product. (These are not required fields, however, it may help your customer understand the justification for your shipping cost. There are 6 shipping classes that have been preconfigured in our system for you to select. These have been created so that you can apply different shipping charges based on the size of the product.
NOTE: When you first open your store you will need to set the prices for each shipping class.

How to set up costs for shipping classes
In the store, dashboard navigate to Settings -> Shipping. On the Shipping screen, you will see shipping zones that are available to you. Each zone will require a Shipping Method to be applied. Click the “Add Shipping Method” for the zone which you would like to configure the Shipping Class costs.

In the shipping method screen, you are now able to add a Shipping Method. Click the “Add Shipping Method” button to open the window and begin adding the costs for each shipping method. There are 3 configured shipping methods for you to choose from.

Adding costs to your shipping method and shipping classes
Choose your shipping method to add it to your shipping zone, once it is added you are then able to edit the costs. Hover your mouse over the shipping method title and two links will appear, edit and delete. Click “edit” to open the Edit Shipping Method dialog to enter your shipping costs.

It is possible to add different costs to your individual shipping classes if you sell a variety of products at different weights and sizes. In the Edit Shipping Method Dialog, scroll down until you reach the section Shipping Class Cost.
Here, you will see the different shipping classes where you can add your cost for the associated class.
Shipping class costs and calculations
When setting your costs for shipping rates you need to set up “Flat Rate” shipping costs.
Shipping Rate Fields:
Title: Set the title for the following shipping rates.
Cost: The shipping rate base cost, will be added to the shipping rate.
Tax Status: Set this if you pay tax on your shipping.
Description: Write the description which is required for your shipping rates.
Shipping Class Cost
The shipping classes can be added to each individual product on the product Edit screen. There is more information about this in the following document here.
Under the United Kingdom Shipping zone under the Flat Rate method, these are the following shipping classes.
- Extra Small Parcel
- Small Parcel
- Medium Parcels
- Large Parcels
- Extra Large Parcels
It is possible to set a cost per class. For example, if you set £5 for the base class cost and then £2 for Small Parcel and then activate this class on your product. At the checkout, the product shipping will be £7 in total. The base cost can be used for the cost of packaging and the Small Parcel price is the cost of shipment.
It is possible to keep the base cost £0 and then set the cost on the Small Parcel class.
